The Italian national team confirmed the injury of Mateo Retegui, the ‘Azzurri’ striker, who will miss the two matches against Germany in the UEFA Nations League due to a muscle strain in his right thigh.

Bad news for the Italian national team ahead of the quarter-finals of the Nations League. Luciano Spalletti will be without his in-form striker Mateo Retegui for the double-header against Germany.

The Atalanta striker is suffering from a muscle strain in his right thigh and will miss both the first leg in his homeland and the return leg in Germany in search of a place in the Final Four.

Retegui had been Spalletti's first-choice striker in Italy's last group games. In fact, he scored against both Belgium in the first leg and Israel in the second leg, as well as providing an assist against France.

As a result, the Italian coach will have to look for another piece to put in Italy's eleven. Moise Kean leads the way in a list that also includes Lucca, Maldini, Politano, Raspadori and Zaccagni.
