Valencia were rewarded for their constant attacking play after half-time. Maxi Gomez shot powerfully inside the box and Jordi Alba deflected it into his own net to make it 1-0 at the Mestalla.

Valencia could not score in the first half at the Mestalla, but they did three minutes after the resumption. The goal was coming and a bit of bad luck for the Catalan giants meant they fell behind.

Pique jumped up in the air to block a cross from the left, the ball fell to Maxi Gomez and the shot was deflected by Jordi Alba into his own goal.

As the Uruguayan's strike was not going on top, the goal will go down as a Jordi Alba own goal. The ex-Valencia man inadvertently put Valencia ahead.

A goal which Valencia deserved. They had plenty of shots on Barca's goal. Setien's men had more possession though.

But the game could have changed a minute beforehand when Messi played in Ansu Fati whose shot went past the post.
