The Copa Libertadores final between Boca Juniors and River Plate will go ahead on Sunday, after being postponed from Saturday due to heavy rains in Buenos Aires.
There was a deluge in the Argentine capital on Saturday afternoon, forcing CONMEBOL and the local authorities to call the game off, after being advised to do so by the referee. It will now kick off at 8pm CET on Sunday.
Despite the statements on Saturday, the images coming from Argentina did not bode well. Huge puddles were seen on the ground, the stands full of water and sources including 'La 990 Radio' claimed that even the Boca dressing room was flooded.
Finally, the match was postponed and CONMEBOL today confirmed that the match would take place at 4pm in Argentina, or 8pm in Europe. A press release was published a few minutes ago by CONMEBOL.
"The inspection carried out by the official agents of the CONMEBOL has determined that the pitch of the Bombonera is in good condition for the 16:00 kickoff, for the first leg of the Copa Libertadores 2018," the statement read.
