It's been seven years since the darkest day of Pepe's career

On a day like today seven years ago, the footballing world was left shocked by some of the most violent actions seen on the football pitch. The protagonist: the Real Madrid defender Pepe.

No one will ever know what went through Pepe's head on that April 21 in which Casquero was brutally assaulted during the 'Real Madrid - Getafe' La Liga game played at the Santiago Bernabeu.

The Madrid centre-back pushed the player in the area and, once on the ground, gave him two strong kicks. One on his shin, and another on his back. He then proceeded, and tried to stomp on him on several occasions.

His actions meant that obviously he was shown a red card, and then he was given the longest suspension the Spanish League had ever seen: a 10 match ban.

In the seven years since, Pepe's behaviour has changed and it seems as though his aggressiveness has calmed down, seeing as in the last few seasons he has been a lot less rash and the number of bookings he has received has been reduced considerably.

A few months ago, the Portuguese international revelaed he was regretful of the decision, and revelaed how it changed his career. He is quite right, as nobody will forget this act.

Do you believe Pepe has changed his behaviour, or do you think he is still the same?
