Is Pogba United's next 'flop'?
Manchester United have had a few marquee signings fail to live up to their promise and with midfielder Paul Pogba attracting a lot of criticism this season, is he set to be the next one?
We take a look at some of the players who have failed to perform at Old Trafford, despite, in some cases, a hefty price tag...
Angel Di Maria
The Argentine arrived in Manchester as the new British transfer record when United paid £59.7m to sign him from Real Madrid in 2014. However, in 27 games he only scored three goals, although he did provide 10 assists in what was otherwise a lacklustre stint in England. Di Maria lasted just the one season before switching to Ligue 1 with PSG.
Radamel Falcao
Once considered one of the world's best strikers, it all went wrong for Falcao during his loan stint at United. He managed just four goals and four assists in 26 games, with the 'Red Devils' understandably choosing to pass up on signing the striker permanently.
Bastian Schweinsteiger
It might be slightly harsh to put the Germany international into this list, but his period at the Manchester club was less than fruitful. Joining in his twilight years, Schweinsteiger was never going to set the Premier League alight as injuries hampered him again. However, he failed to make an impact in his 18 appearances and was subsequently frozen out of the club by Jose Mourinho.
Henrikh Mkhitaryan
The Armenian joined United from Borussia Dortmund in 2016 for £26m but didn't have the desired effect in Manchester. Mkhitaryan mustered five goals and six assists in 39 appearances and would be used in a swap deal to bring Alexis Sanchez to Old Trafford.
Paul Pogba?
The Frenchman has held the British transfer record since the 'Red Devils' spent £89m to buy him back from Juventus, after they allowed Pogba to leave for little money. Whether it has been a good investment is still up for question as the 24-year-old has scored just eight goals and made 13 assists in 50 appearances so far and has faced heavy criticism over some lacklustre performances. With rampant speculation that Pogba could be on his way out of United, it remains to be seen if he will be considered a 'flop'.
