Former Manchester City and Stoke midfielder Stephen Ireland is in talks with several Bundesliga sides over a bosman move this summer, according to the 'Daily Mail'.

The Republic of Ireland international was released by the 'Potters' at the end of the season and is now weighing up his next move.

At 31, Ireland still has plenty left in the tank and is thought to be the subject of interest both at home and abroad, with a number of Bundesliga clubs monitoring his situation, according to the aforementioned source.

Ireland burst onto the scene as a youngster, shining for Manchester City and earning himself a big-money move to Aston Villa.

However, his career has somewhat stalled since due to a series of injuries, having made over 20 league appearances in a season just twice since the 2009/10 campaign.

The midfielder is believed to be open to a move abroad and as a free agent he can be signed at any point during the season.

Ireland came close to joining Bolton in the summer after a period training with the club, only for the move to collapse over personal terms.
