Beating Japan was expected to to be a foregone conclusion for Belgium on Monday night, so imagine the surprise on the faces of the 'Red Devils' after Takashi Inui put the minnows 2-0 up with a stunner.

After a goalless first half, Genki Haraguchi broke the deadlock minutes after the interval as he fired low beyond Thibaut Courtois.

Not content with one, Japan went for the jugular, doubling their lead within four minutes and it was a goal worthy of winning any game.

With blue shirts streaking forward, a ball in from the left was only cleared as far as Shinji Kagawa, who retained possession with a couple of lovely touches.

He then teed up Inui and the Real Betis man did the rest, drilling a wonderful strike beyond Courtois from fully 25 yards.

The goal was nothing less than the 'Blue Samurai' deserved, having come out swinging after the break.
