Following Julen Lopetegui's announcement of his 23-man squad for the upcoming World Cup, we take a look at some interesting statistics relating the players involved.

How many Spanish players play domestically?

Out of the 23 players, only six play outside their home country. They are David De Gea (Manchester United), Pepe Reina (Napoli), Cesar Azpilicueta (Chelsea), Nacho Monreal (Arsenal), Thiago Alcantara (Bayern Munich) and David Silva (Manchester City).

Who has the most experience?

Sergio Ramos boasts the highest number of caps, featuring 151 times for the senior team, closely followed by Andres Iniesta (125 caps), David Silva (119), Sergio Busquets (100) and Gerard Pique (96).

At the other end of the spectrum, Lucas Vazquez (five caps), Rodrigo Moreno (four), Alvaro Odriozola (two) and Kepa Arrizabalaga (one) are all inexperienced internationally.

Who has scored the most goals?

Surprisingly, David Silva is the top scorer amongst Lopetegui's 23-man squad, finding the back of the net on 35 occasions.

He is somewhat ahead of his peers, with Andres Iniesta (14), Sergio Ramos (13) and Isco (10) making up the top four.

Which club boasts the biggest contingent?

Unsurprisingly it is one of Spain's biggest clubs, although not the one with the most silverware. Real Madrid have six members in this squad, compared to Barcelona's four.

Howver, there are 12 different teams represented: Atletico Madrid, Manchester United, Napoli, Athletic Club, Chelsea, Arsenal, Real Sociedad, Manchester City, Bayern Munich, Celta Vigo and Valencia.

Who is the older member?

At 38 years old, Pepe Reina will be trusted with guiding the youngsters through the process with Marco Asensio representing the baby of the squad at just 22.
