Several top European sides are thought to be keeping tabs on PSG striker Edinson Cavani amid talk that he may be sold after he clashed with new team-mate Neymar in Sunday's win over Lyon.

It started as a simple debate over who should take a penalty but ended with the pair having to be separated by team-mates in the dressing room after the Ligue 1 clash.

The fall-out promises to be spectacular, with some reports claiming that Neymar has even demanded that the PSG board sell Cavani, with the Brazilian seeing any working relationship with the Uruguayan going forwad 'impossible'.

The news that Cavani may be sold to placate Neymar's throbbing ego has not impressed PSG's fans, who have grown quite attached to Cavani since his arrival from Napoli in 2013, however, the development has pricked the ears of several European sides who sense an opportunity to sign a top quality striker at a knock-down price.

English publication 'The Daily Mail' reports that Napoli, Everton and Chelsea are just three of the teams considering a move for the 30-year-old, who has scored nine goals in just eight games so far this season, or put differently, almost twice as many goals as Neymar.

PSG are under pressure to sell players in January in order to comply with FFP and whilst Julian Draxler, Lucas Moura and Angel Di Maria had previously been linked with moves away from the club, a move Cavani has now become a surprise possibility.

However, any move for the striker would be complicated, having passes the dreaded 30 mark, clubs are likely to be less willing to splurge big money on the player, whilst of those linked Chelsea and Napoli already have Alvaro Morata and Gonzalo Higuain to call upon, meaning that Cavani would not be a guaranteed starter, as he surely wants and needs to be at this stage of his career.

If there is one factor that could push Cavani towards a move, it is his well-publicised desire to return to Italy with former side Napoli, where he enjoyed three prolific years before moving to the French capital.

Everton meanwhile are in desperate need of a top quality striker, but it is unlikely that we will see Cavani drop down to a team that could well finish outside the Premier League's top eight just because Neymar wanted to take a penalty.

Juventus, Inter Milan and Borussia Dortmund are also thought to be tracking the frontman.
