Inigo Martinez posted a video on his social networks in which he said goodbye to the Athletic Club fans. The centre-back, whose contract expires on 30th June, will most likely sign for Barcelona.
On Wednesday, Carmelo Sanchez, the defender's agent, gave an interview to the 'DEIA' newspaper to talk about the Basque defender's future and denied any agreement with the Catalan giants. However, he gave some clues that the centre-back's next destination could be Barcelona.
"Inigo has always been a target for Barcelona, they wanted to sign him when he was at Real. There is no formal offer, but they tell us that it is because Berasategi has previously refused to sellhim, but I communicated it to him and it consisted of 15 million plus five million in variables," he said.
He also gave a glimpse of the reason why he did not renew with Athletic: "The last meeting was at the end of March. I told him that it was too late, that I couldn't wait indefinitely to hear from him, that from January he was free to decide his professional future", he added.
