FIFA president Gianni Infantino is standing by proposals to introduce two new tournaments in to the international footballing calendar.

The Swiss is wanting to introduce a worlwide version of the Nations League, which UEFA have successfully introduced to its members this year.

Further proposals include a change in the Club World Cup competition, which usually takes place annually, as well as scrapping the Confederations Cup which acts a warm up to the World Cup.

Speaking to the 'Associated Press', the FIFA president said: "I really think we have to think out of the box to think about new models to preserve football and the relevance of football and the structure of football

"I don't think there is anything that dramatic or wrong to discuss about competitions, to discuss about how to commercialise these competitions,"

UEFA are opposed to the new ideas, particulary a new Club World Cup that could disrupt the schedule for the Champions League.
