Inaki Pena to extend contract until 2029 before Elche loan move
Reports suggest Barcelona plan to extend Inaki Pena's contract until 2029, then loan him out to Elche. The move could also help the club register players.
Inaki Pena's future is becoming clearer. The goalkeeper is aware that he is not part of Hansi Flick's plans and has been looking for an exit all summer, which seems to have come to an end after several teams showed interest.
However, the operation will be carried out as follows. As 'Jijantes' pointed out, the Barcelona board's intention is for the youth player to renew his current contract, which expires in June, until 2029, three more seasons. After this, Elche would be his destination on loan.
This move, with the market closing soon, would allow Barcelona to finish registering the remaining players, specifically, Wojciech Szczesny, who will not be a starter, but has the confidence of Flick to be the second goalkeeper.
Inaki Pena would continue to be linked to the club of his life and, in addition, would play a year at home, as he was born in Alicante. On the other hand, he would have some chance to compete for the team's starting position, something that is totally impossible at Barca.
