Sergi Roberto took advantage of his freshly signed Barcelona contract to talk to the press about a variety of topics, including the state of the Champions League last-16 clash between Real Madrid and PSG.

"We were able to overturn a much worse result. It's always possible. With the result from the first leg in Madrid I think they (PSG) can come back," explained the midfielder-cum-right-back.

Naturally when discussing comebacks, Roberto took the opportunity to recall his goal in the famous victory over PSG at the Camp Nou, saying: "I've been at this club a long time and I've had some great moments. One particularly special moment was my debut at the Camp Nou against Celta, the titles, the comeback... that goal is something that will always stand out."

The 26-year-old extended his stay in Catalonia until 2022 on Thursday and the Barca academy product was delighted to get the deal done. "Since we began to talk about a renewal I've wanted to be here. Barca have always been my club and I'm a Barca fan. It's true that other clubs were interested but I wanted to be here and I'm happy to have renewed until 2022. If I can stay here longer, even better," he explained.

The Catalan was also keen to unerline the importance of those who gave him a chance in order to make his way in the game, saying "I was lucky with Pep because he was the manager. He took a chance on me and other players form the academy, he gave us our debuts and I thank him for that. Luis Enrique gave me confidence by calling me up to the Barca B side from the youth team. And at another point they gave me the chance to play in a new position  which gave me the continuity I needed. I'm very grateful to everyone."

On the topic of Messi, Roberto didn't hesitate in heaping praise on the Agentine. "Getting along with Leo is easy, he makes it easy," Roberto enthused. "He's the best in the world and we're all delighted to be able to play alongside him because he makes us better. I like playing on the same flank as him."

The Barca right-back also explained his happiness with the way the club's season has gone so far: "We're exactly where we wanted to be, top of La Liga and in the Cup final. We also had a good result in the last 16 of the Champions League. There are a lot of games in January and February so it is normal that players get tired. The team is eager for more."

Whilst his current focus is on his club side, Roberto did nothing to hide his desire to play for his country at the World Cup. "It would be a dream," he admitted. "I've already played for Spain at an U17 World Cup and an U20 World Cup. Every player wants to go to the World Cup. It's within my grasp because I've been included in several squads and I hope to keep playing well so that Lopetegui calls me up."
