After recovering from a knee injury at the start of the season and contributing to United's Europa League triumph last campaign, Zlatan Ibrahimovic has sealed his return to the top continental competition after an 18 month absence. He did so by setting an interesting record.

Ibrahimovic had not played in the Champions League since 12 April 2016. A sad day for the towering Swede, not only because PSG were knocked out at the Etihad, but because he would have to wait a year and a half for his next appearance in the competition.

That summer, he signed for Manchester United and was relegated to Europa League action. He then suffered a serious knee injury which has kept him out of the opening fixtures this season.

But the king is back. Against Basel, Ibrahimovic came on with 15 minutes to go, adding Manchester United to Ajax, Juventus, Inter, Barcelona, AC Milan and PSG to the list of teams he has represented in the Champions League.

He was previously tied with fellow former Barca man Javier Saviola on half a dozen sides, but Ibrahimovic has now become the first player to make appearances for seven different clubs.

He also holds the record for having scored with six different clubs in the Champions League and now seeks the ultimate glory: his first Champions League title
