Zlatan Ibrahimovic has lifted the lid on why he rejected a trial with Arsenal during the formative years of his career.
The Swede infamously rejected the chance to train with Arsene Wenger's side, allegedly telling the Frenchman 'Zlatan doesn't do auditions'.
Wenger missed out on tempestuous, yet talented teenager, who instead made the move to Ajax and has since gone on to win 11 league titles in four different countries.
Speaking to 'I Signori del Calcio' on 'Sky Sports Italia', Ibrahimovic explained his reasoning behind rejecting the move, saying: 'I went to London for an appointment with Wenger, who asked me to audition for the Gunners.
'I told him "I will not do a trial: either you take me or not, I'm not here to waste time".
'I already had that kind of trust, because in my mind I was the strongest of all, even when I was young.
'I met Wenger because I expected him to tell me to start with them right away. But Ibra does not test.'
Wenger has since insisted that he does not regret missing out on Ibrahimovic's signature, with the Swede joining the likes of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo as world class players who almost became 'Gunners'.
