Martin Odegaard has admitted that he would have liked to remain at Real Madrid, instead of being sent out on loan to Dutch side Vitesse Arnhem. However, he is now focused on fighting in order to assure a future with 'Los Blancos'.

"I ahve to work and play as much as possible. Of course, I had hoped to stay at Real Madrid. I trained the whole of the summer and I played some minutes... but in the end, the club and I decided that the best option for me was to play elsewhere,"explained Odegaard in an interview with 'Voetbal International'.

Despite all of this, Odegaard believes he has an enviable resume. "You have to be modest and have a clear head. How many 19 year olds have been in the Madrid first team? The road is long and I have belief in myself", he continued.

Odegaard only thinks about getting better in order to achieve his target: return to Madrid. "I want to work hard, learn from every game and earn minutes. My goal is clear: play for Madrid. I will do everything to achieve this", he said.

Now, with Vitesse, Odegaard hopes to gain experience and become a more complete player. "I am only 19 years old but already have five years playing at the professional level. Now I better understand what the team wants, what the coach wants. I think that I have come to the perfect place to continue working for the next step", he concluded.

In only a few days ago, the player insisted that he has a good relationship with new Madrid boss Solari. He said,  "I get on well with him, but I do not know if this will influence a return or not."
