Ronald Koeman's late and complicated departure from Barcelona put Joan Laporta on the ropes and it was not easy for him to find a replacement for the Dutchman. Thierry Henry called the president and put the name of Erik ten Hag on the table, because "he is a genius", he said on 'CBS Sports'.

Barcelona's last experience with a coach from the Netherlands, Ronald Koeman, gave the board led by Joan Laporta food for thought. After having sacked one of the club's legends, the president received a call offering a Dutchman.

Thierry Henry, who was part of one of the best teams in the history of the Catalan giants, contacted the 'Cules' president to offer Erik ten Hag to one of his last clubs.

"I am a big fan of Ten Hag. I like him a lot. I recommended him to Barca when Koeman was sacked, because he's a genius," he told 'CBS Sports'.

And he ended his praise for the United manager by asking for patience from Red Devils fans: "Give him another year, support him in the transfer market and United will be back in real contention. With all due respect to Sir Alex, if Ten Hag succeeds at United it will be a team that will play in a more attractive way than it did under Ferguson".
