Simeone was blunt about the referee's performance in his side's loss to PSG. The Argentine did not want to enter into controversy in order not to look like a victim, as he is often accused of.

Tough setback for Atletico Madrid in their debut at the Club World Cup. The Spanish side suffered a resounding 4-0 thrashing from PSG and Simeone, speaking to ‘DAZN’, wanted to share his first conclusions on the matter.

"There were different games in the same match, I think that in the first half they were better, especially for the control of the game, not for chances, they were clinical. They took the lead, then we had Griezmann's chance and they made it 2-0," he said.

Furthermore, Simeone was blunt when asked about the refereeing: "I'm not going to talk about the reiterative issues because we always seem to be victims and I don't feel like a victim of anything, on the contrary, we played against a better team that played better than us, but the details are evident".

On what the team lacked: "To have more of the ball, personality to play, we were not able to win the ball back and have criteria in the game, to be more patient and take them to the situation of defending and when we play against a team that attacks well, they take the ball away from you and do not let you progress, it is clear what happens. We were able to equalise with that chance of Griezmann, but 4-0 is a negative result and now we depend on ourselves for what lies ahead".
