Javier Pastore was honest. The Argentinian player has admitted that he left PSG after seven long seasons because he was not good enough to play for the French club. "I didn't think it was fair," the 33 year-old said.

Javier Pastore has now said goodbye to Elche. The 33 year-old Argentinian player has put an end to his time at the La Liga side and he has said goodbye to his teammates and the fans.

Pastore has just had a couple of seasons at Elche after leaving Roma in summer 2021. Before that, the former Palermo man was at PSG where he was for seven seasons before leaving in 2018.

And in comments to 'OhMyGoal', Pastore explained the reason why he decided not to renew his PSG contract. The Argentine himself revealed that he left Paris because he felt he was no longer good enough for the French giants.

"It was really difficult, yes, because I didn't want to go. My heart was saying to me: 'We're going to stay another five years and I'll end my career here.' It was any footballer's dream, play there for 12 or 15 years and be able to play with Messi and Mbappe, train with them and be able to tell my children afterwards. That would have been the best thing ever, but I didn't think it was fair. I wasn't good enough for PSG," Pastore said.

And he added: "For me, it was the right time. I didn't want to be stubborn, but it was also difficult because Al-Khelaifi didn't want to let me go. I remember it very well. He said to me: 'But no, now you'll see that everything's going to change. We're going to see a doctor because of your injuries.' PSG gave me a lot in every way, personally, in a footballing sense and financially."
