Arsenal summer signing Lucas Perez admitted that he hoped for a more important role in the Arsenal team, but says he will "make the most" of any opportunities he gets.

The Spanish forward signed for a fee of around £17m from Deportivo La Coruna and many expected Perez to be one of Arsenal's main front men this season.

The former Deportivo man has scored two goals this season, but has managed just five appearances for the Gunners. The 28-year-old has since admitted that he expected more playing time when he signed for Arsenal.

"When I first arrived here I expected to have more of a starring role," he told Spanish radio station 'Onda Cero'.

"The team-mates that are playing in my position are doing a great job. We have won seven games in a row and, at the end of the day, the coach wants what is best for the team.

"I had hoped to have more playing time, but what I have to do now is make the most of the opportunities I get".

Perez played his first game in almost a month when he came on as a substitute in Arsenal's 6-0 win over Ludogorets in the Champions League. However, with Arsenal's front men currently firing on all cylinders, it seems that Perez may have to wait patiently for his next start for the Gunners.
