'I don't understand the criticism of my game'
Matthijs De Ligt spoke after the game against Lokomotiv Moscow. Juventus won 2-1. The defender made the most of the moment to send a message to those who criticise him, game after game.
"I don't understand the critics, I believe that I played well. I was solid, stable and didn't make many mistakes," De Ligt said in declarations collected by 'Sport'.
The media reminded him that he had not participated too much in the game and he replied: "I just had to do my job, which is to defend. Lokomotiv hardly shot at our goal."
Moreover, De Light recalled, his position on the pitch has changed from what he was doing at Ajax. "In Holland they played more central than here, so it's a myth that I play too far ahead," he continued.
Finally, he made it clear that he intends to turn a deaf ear to his critics... because he doesn't intend to read news of his game. "I don't get the criticism because I don't read much anymore, to be honest," he concluded.
Whether they get it or not, they don't seem very happy with De Ligt's performances in Italy. His adaptation to Serie A is costing him and the transalpine press has called him, on some occasions, the "erratic" De Ligt.
