Samuel Eto'o: 'I didn't play with Messi, Messi played with me'
Samuel Eto'o is one of the most charismatic players to have played for Barcelona in the 21st century. The Cameroonian was asked about Leo Messi and the time they played together.
Few players have been better than Leo Messi in the Barcelona side, at least while they have been together. One of them was Cameroon's Samuel Eto'o.
The former striker, in a Tik Tok about the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, was asked what the Argentine's presence might mean for Ansu Fati, given his experience with the now Barcelona star.
"You played with him," the Cameroonian was told. "No, he played with me, it's different. Messi played with me, I didn't play with Messi," assured a Samuel Eto'o who showed his usual confidence.
The former striker was referring to the fact that Messi was not the important player. "In my time, he played with me. It's different, totally different," said the former Barcelona player.
Another example of the usual boldness with which Eto'o usually speaks. And, as he said, the Argentinian was not the indispensable piece of Barcelona when they both coincided in the Catalan city.
