Dean Huijsen has issued an apology on social media following his dismissal against Borussia Dortmund, ruling the Spain international out of the semi-final clash with Paris Saint-Germain.

Dean Huijsen, the Real Madrid international centre-back, has apologised via social media after being sent off in added time during the quarter-final against Borussia Dortmund, a rash challenge that rules him out of Wednesday's semi-final against Paris Saint-Germain.

"Great game from the entire team. I apologise for being sent off and not being able to help the team in the next match. Hala Real Madrid!", Huijsen posted on his official Instagram account, accompanied by several photos from the quarter-final match.

In his fifth game as an undisputed starter for Real Madrid since his debut at the Club World Cup, Huijsen was shown a straight red card in the 96th minute for a foul on Guirassy inside the penalty area.

As a result, Xabi Alonso will have to choose between fielding Raúl Asencio alongside Antonio Rudiger or permanently dropping Aurelien Tchouameni into central defence, potentially sacrificing the option of deploying a three-man defence in the defensive phase.
