Brighton's Chris Hughton says the club needs to improve the quality of their finishing, after Lukaku's goal put United ahead in the first-half.

The 'Seagulls' had their opportunities against Manchester United on Saturday, but were defeated by Mourinho's side and knocked out of the quarter-finals.

Despite the loss, Hughton praised his squad's performance. Speaking to the official club website, he said ''I though we were [well in the game], certainly as regards to the amount of shots we had and shots on target. We might not have had a lot of possession, but you expect that there.''

Hughton's only criticism was regarding his side's finishing, the Brighton boss added that ''we were always a threat but needed to work the goalkeeper a little bit more. We needed to have that little bit more quality once getting into the final third.''

Brighton suffered a disappointing match against Everton last weekend and were defeated 2-0. In spite of the results, Hughton was much impressed with the Seagulls' performance against United. He said ''I wanted to see a response from the team because we were poor against Everton. It was especially important considering the run we've been on - but we did that today. As regards to the overall performance of the team, I was delighted with that.''

Hughton was also quick to praise the skill of United's Romelu Lukaku. "When you look at Lukaku's goal, it's what he does and he showed the quality to get on the end of the cross. We needed something like that, but we were always in the game and always a threat,'' he added.
