According to 'L'Equipe', Kylian Mbappe gave up on a yearly salary of €250m by refusing to extend his Paris Saint-Germain contract to join Real Madrid, where he currently earns €32m a year.

French outlet 'L'Equipe' has revealed the estimated figures behind Kylian Mbappe's move from Paris Saint-Germain to Real Madrid. The 26-year-old made the long-awaited transfer last summer, making a considerable financial sacrifice to make it happen.

Had he chosen to extent his contract with the Parisians, Mbappe would've earned an annual salary of €250m. However, by opting to fly to the Spanish capital after penning a five-year deal with 'Los Blancos, the Frechman has settled for €32m a year - giving up on more than €200m.

The major loss was somewhat compensated by Real Madrid with an estimated his signing-on fee of around €100m, while also allowing the AS Monaco academy graduate to hold 80% of his image rights - an exception from the usual 50/50 split between the club and their players.

The same source reports that the 'Merengues' did not want to offer Mbappe with a lucrative salary, fearing the potential effect on an already star-packed dressing room, with the likes of Vinicius Junior and Jude Bellingham also representing household names in modern footaball.
