Liverpool received their dream match-up on Friday, when they were drawn with Roma for the Champions League semi-final.

The Champions League semi-final draw took place on Friday at UEFA's headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland, and it was a happy day for fans of Jurgen Klopp's team.

European giants Bayern Munich and Real Madrid were both in the pot for the draw, however Liverpool and Roma were spared a nightmare tie when the two biggest sides were drawn against each other first out of the pot.

That left a foregone conclusion of a Liverpool v Roma tie, and sure enough Liverpool were next out of the pot, meaning the English side will play at home for the first leg. The clash at Anfield will take place on either the 24th or 25th of April, and the 'Reds' will then travel to Rome on the 1st or 2nd of May for the return fixture.

The tie will be a return of a familiar face for Roma. Mo Salah, who has been an absolute revelation for Liverpool, recently winning his third player of the month award, arrived at Anfield from Roma last summer, and it will be a worrying sight for Eusebio Di Francesco to see the Egyptian bombing towards his side in the opposing team's colours.

With regards to previous meetings, Liverpool will enter the game with confidence, having lost just one of their five meetings with the Italian side. They have drawn two and won two against Roma in the past, with the most notable game being the European Cup final in 1984, which the Merseyside club won on penalties.
