Ousmane Dembele's muscle injury is a big setback for Barcelona. The young Frenchman is set to be sidelined for around three to four months.

This means that he will miss a large chunk of the season in several competitions for Barcelona. Dembele won't play in the Champions League until February, as long as Barca reach the quarter finals.

After playing the opening match against Juventus, he will be unavailable for the final five group matches. Valverde's side will finish the group stages in December, but Dembele won't be there.

In the league, the 20-year-old winger is ruled out for the whole first half of the season before the winter break. The Catalan giants finish the first part of the season with a trip to Real Sociedad, which is less than four months from now.

If his injury keeps him out for four months, Dembele will miss 15 league games, including crucial visits to the Wanda Metropolitano and Santiago Bernabeu.

In the Copa del Rey, the former Borussia Dortmund star won't feature until at least the last 16. Even if Barca reach the last eight, the chances of Dembele featuring are low.

Barcelona's record signing will miss at least twenty matches in his first season at the Camp Nou. The only positive? He will be fresh and raring to go in 2018.

The injury occurred in Barcelona's clash with Getafe on Saturday. Dembele ruptured the tendon in the femoral bicep in his left thigh and he'll have to have an operation before he can start his recovery.
