Alfredo Álvarez, vice-president of Cruz Azul in Mexico, criticised "a club" who, according to him, invented cases of coronavirus among members of their squad.

The Mexican league was cancellled and the decision did not go down well with everybody. The Cruz Azul vice-president criticised a team for inventing coronavirus cases.

"Things like that happen here, one team invents coronavirus cases in a team. They are the only side in Mexico who have coronavirus, come on," Alfredo Alvarez told 'Mediotiempo'.

"We aren't just going to sit here when we know it's not true. We know who is behind all this to become the centre of attention," he continued.

"Cruz Azul's position was to continue the league, but other organisations had other ideas. Their interest was not to play," he concluded.

Although he did not say the club's name, he was most probably referring to Santos Laguna. They confirmed 15 cases in just a few hours.
