Newly-appointed Monaco boss Thierry Henry insisted that he will be remaining positive despite watching his side fall to a 2-1 defeat to Strasbourg in his first game in charge of the club.

The Monegasque side find themselves sitting in the Ligue 1 relegation zone following the loss, with basement boys Guingamp below them only on goal difference.

The last team to beat PSG to the title, Monaco are now 24 points off the pace of the reigning Ligue champions after goals from Adrien Thomasson and Lebo Mothiba secured Strasbourg victory on Saturday.

The defeat was a particularly painful one for Henry, wth the first goal being gifted to he hosts before the Arsenal legend saw substitute Samuel Grandsir dismissed in the second half.

However, despite the defeat, Henry insisted that there were positives to take from the game.

"It wasn't easy, we tried to put something in place which worked at the beginning, and then we conceded that goal that I don't need to describe... Human error, I don't want to wipe the floor with anyone," he explained.

"Then we tried to change the game, and unfortunately Sam (Grandsir) is sent off. After that it was even harder, but we still tried to keep playing.

"But I want to keep positive despite the negatives... The game could have turned in our favour, but it didn't. In addition, we lost (Radamel) Falcao at the beginning. It wasn't the dream scenario."
