Despite Joan Laporta claiming that Jules Kounde was going to sign for Chelsea in recent hours, this transfer story has been flipped on its head. According to journalist, Gerard Romero on his Twitch channel, 'Jijantes', Barca have now reached an agreement in principle with Sevilla for the centre back.

With Kessie, Christensen, Raphinha, and Lewandowski already added to their ranks, Barcelona continue to scour the transfer market. Xavi requires more quality in his defense and this is the current priority of 'Los Azulgranas'.

For the centre back position, their favoured target is Kounde. In recent hours, Laporta claimed that the Frenchman was going to sign for Chelsea, but something has now changed.

Barcelona did not thrown in the towel and their perserverance has borne fruit according to Gerard Moreno. On his Twitch channel, 'Jijantes', the journalist revealed that an agreement in principle has been made between Sevilla and Barca for Kounde.

The source assures that the deal is 99% done. Only something totally unexpected could now prevent his arrival to the Camp Nou. The official announcement of his signing is imminent.

Gerard Romero has not explained how the deal has been closed. This Friday, 'Marca' reported that Barca were still interested but that they were yet to make an offer for Kounde. This is something that has evidently changed this Saturday. 60 million euros was the figure that Chelsea were going to pay for the Sevilla centre back. Therefore, this could be the figure that Barcelona have also offered to bring his services to the Catalan capital.

'Marca', also reported on Friday that only an offer of 65 million euros would prevent Kounde from going to Stamford Bridge. Whatever the case, the player himself has been key in this change of events as his preferred destination has always been Barcelona. This is a dream move that may be completed very soon.
