Salzburg hosted Napoli on matchday three of the 2019-20 Champions League. A large part of the media attention was on Erling Haland, one of the sensations of the season.
However, it was Dries Mertens who hogged all the spotlight early on with the first goal of the game. The Belgian took advantage of a great assist from Jose Callejon to open the scoring.
Fortunately for the Austrian outfit, Kevin Malcuit committed a foul inside the Napoli box to give Haland the opportunity to level before the break.
The 19 year-old striker, after stuttering in his run up, beat Alex Meret as well as getting his fifth goal in this season's Champions League. He later added another, his sixth, in a losing cause. He has now scored 20 goals in his 13 appearances for Salzburg.
