Former Real Madrid star Guti has reportedly expressed an interest in the managerial vacancy at Scottish minnows St Mirren.

The former Real Madrid and Spain midfielder enjoyed a glittering playing career, winning the Champions League three times with 'Los Blancos', but according to the 'BBC', his agent has been in contact with the 'Buddies' over their managerial vacancy.

St Mirren have been without a manager since Jack Ross left the club for Sunderland shortly after securing them promotion.

The Scottish side are hoping to appoint a new manager within a week, with interviews set to get underway in the coming days.

It is understood that Guti, who currently coaches one of the Real Madrid youth teams, will be one of the names considered, along with the likes of Jim McIntyre, Robbie Neilson, Alan Stubbs and Gary Caldwell.

Interestingly, it is the second job the 41-year-old Guti has been linked with this week, having previously been tipped as a surprise option to replace the outgoing Zinedine Zidane at Real Madrid.
