Goa have become the first Indian team to take part in the AFC Champions League. Since the number of teams that can compete in the tournament increased, the India Super League champions have officially earned a spot.

The European Champions League might count some of the world's top players in its ranks, but the AFC Champions League is slowly but surely building a following and creating amazing football moments. Now, Goa have sneaked into the competition and will start creating their own footballing stories.

The team has become the first Indian team to qualify for the championship, as the newspaper 'AS' noted. Their participation is now confirmed after winning the India Super League with a resounding 5-0 victory over rivals Jamshedpur.

And the team is not lacking European talent... Among it's ranks, several Spaniards have been part of this success: Ferrán Corominas, Edu Bedia and Carlos Peñas are part of the staff. Sergio Lobera was sacked as coach weeks ago, but even the interim coach who replaced him admitted that he misses him.

This is not the first time an Indian team has entered the Asian continental scene, but Mohun Bagan or East Bengal have appeared in the Asian Club Championship,  a competition that no longer exists.
