Argentine goalkeeper Rulli ended his career at Villarreal on Friday after signing for Ajax, the club confirmed on their official channels.
The deal was finally closed for a sum of eight million euros, plus another two million euros in variables, according to the Dutch club.
The Argentinian goalkeeper will always be in the memory of the Yellow Submarine fans for being the goalkeeper who saved the penalty that gave them their first ever Europa League title (Gdansk 2021) against Manchester United.
The goalkeeper leaves Villarreal after 80 official games, 48 La Liga games, 12 Champions League games, 13 Europa League games and seven Copa del Rey games.
Rulli's departure does not seem likely to lead to the arrival of another goalkeeper, as the club have assured that Pepe Reina will remain in the starting line-up, while Jorgensen will become the second-choice keeper.
