Robert Lewandowski could have went to Italy and not Germany. Genoa reached an agreement with the Polish player but the president, Enrico Preziosi, decided to back out of the negotiation at the last minute.

Robert Lewandowski is one of the best strikers in the world, whose present could be different. The Polish striker received an offer from Genoa in 2010 and was on the brink of taking the path of Italian football.

The sporting director at the time, Stefano Capozucca, has said that the striker was practically signed, a transfer that was abandoned at the last minute.

"The deal was done for Lewandowski in 2010. Gasperini knew him well and still had to undergo a medical examination, but then the president backed out", the ex-sporting director told 'Radio Sportiva'.

That year, Robert Lewandowski had shone at Lech Poznan at 21 years old, with 21 goals in 33 matches, therefore he ended up making the jump up to Borussia Dortmund, where he spent 4 years.

In his place, Diego Milito signed for Genoa. "The boy joined Genoa and became a great champion years later," he ended.
