Barcelona's Camp Nou return could be delayed by several weeks. The Blaugrana had intended to play the Joan Gamper Trophy match against Como there, but Spanish outlet Sport reports that this possibility is looking increasingly unlikely.
Indeed, the aforementioned source suggests that the club may reverse its plans to play the Gamper match there this week and be forced to hold it at the Johan Cruyff Stadium.
The aim was to reopen the Camp Nou on August 10th, but work remains unfinished on the subsoil, first and second tiers, as well as the entrances. The initial plan was to have a capacity of around 30,000 spectators for the match against Como.
However, despite having the necessary activity and building permits for the Camp Nou, club sources have told 'Sport' that they believe it is unlikely that the final inspection will be passed to grant the first occupancy license, a prerequisite for hosting matches.
Therefore, pending official confirmation, Barcelona's objective has shifted from having the Camp Nou ready for the Gamper match to having it ready for September 14th, the date of their first home game of the season.
