Things in football can change in the blink of an eye, one moment you're lifting the World Cup trophy and the next you are on a desperate search for a club on social media.

Cristian Zaccardo made three appearances for his country as Italy triumphed at the 2006 World Cup in Germany. The defender also enjoyed spells for AC Milan, Parma and Wolfsburg, before featuring for Serie B outfit Vicenza in the 2016/17 season.

However, at the age of 35, Zaccardo ended his links with the club to become a free agent. Not being able to find a job, he turned to social media platform LinkedIn in a desperate bid continue his playing career.

'I've cancelled the contract that tied me to the vicenza until June 2018', Zaccardo wrote on the job site along with a resumé listing his previous accomplishments as a professional footballer, which included winning the Bundesliga and 381 Serie A appearances, as well as being in the possession of a World Cup winner's medal.

'I'm currently an unattached footballer. I'm still good physically, I could play two more years at high level. Whoever takes me will get a great deal. Serious and strong professional footballer!' he added.
