'Corriere dello Sport' reported that Milan are planning to renew Zlatan Ibrahimovic, but the 'rossoneri' cannot afford to pay him the seven million euros net per season. They want to offer the Swede a salary reduction that would make him earn 2.5 million euros per year.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic, at 40 years of age, will finish his contract with Milan on 30th June 2022, when the Swede will be free to sign for any other club and arrive at zero cost.

However, the 'rossoneri' want to count on the striker for the next season and 'Corriere dello Sport' advanced that they have already thought about the new contract they want to offer the player.

In order for him to wear the Milan jersey next year, Ibra will have to accept a considerable reduction in salary, which would make him go from the seven million per season that he receives now to the €2.5m that will be proposed by the Italian club.

To those 2.5 million euros must be added, according to the aforementioned media outlet, what he would earn in variables for objectives achieved during the season, as happens with other teammates such as Giroud, Rebic or Florenzi.

Everything suggests that there will be an imminent meeting between Zlatan's agent and several Milan directors to find out if he accepts this salary reduction. If so, there would be no problem for the renewal.
