Frenkie, injured and criticized after 'El Clasico'

Frenkie De Jong was criticized by Barcelona supporters following the home defeat agaisnt Real Madrid. He had to leave the pitch a he suffered a muscular injury during the game.

Frenkie De Jong had a night to forget as Real Madrid grabbed their fourth consecuitive 'El Clasico' win at Camp Nou on Sunday. The former Ajax midfielder was one of the most criticized players on the squad as well as getting injured

Frenkie left the pitch at the 77th minute, as Sergi Roberto came in. The motive for Koeman to replace his comrade was not his disappointing performance, the real reason was that Frenkie was hurt and had to leave the pitch. 

He felt something on his right hamstring and the medical examination carried out on Monday revealed that he has a muscular injury. A right hamstring strain to be precise.

 

On Barcelona's official announcement, the club just announced that the Dutch midfielder is currently injured and that he will be back as soon as he recovers, but didn't include any estimated time or recovery date.

Frenkie trained with the group on Monday, as the starters completed a recovery session. Despite looking like completed the session without any problem, his injury was revealed later and he will not play against Rayo Vallecano this Wednesday.

According to 'AS', De Jong was already having pains before the game, but Koeman decide to risk it as he wanted one of his best players to be in 'El Clasico'.
