Florentino to spend more in transfer market following Super Cup defeat

Despite vowing not to spend during the summer transfer window, but following the 4-2 defeat to their local neighbours, he could be swayed.

Florentino and club bosses had previously decided that a Ronaldo replacement would not be necessary.

Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema's performances have been strong so far, but now it looks like another striker could be a target to give Lopetegui more options.

However, it is Real Madrid's defence which seems to be the greatest concern.

During Madrid's 4-2 dressing down by Atletico, Sergio Ramos was run into the ground, and the rest of the defence suffered because of it.

There had been a lot of pre-season talk that Real Madrid would still go on to score the 50 goals that Ronaldo always mustered, but now it looks like conceding may be a bigger problem for the side.

Bale and Benzema were both able to play their part in Tallinn, with Bale providing the assist for the first goal, and for the missed Marcelo chance which could have been the winner.

Benzema was also able to play his part, scoring with a header.

However, Lopetegui's side struggled to defend convincingly, which is a big concern as the season starts this weekend.

Currrently, Real Madrid only have three centre-backs, and while Courtois' arrival could have a calming impact on his defence, it is unlikely to be a drastic change.

'Los Blancos' were second best against Atletico, and that doesn't bode well for the new season.
