Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini has a certain reputation in English football for being an aggressive, enforcer-type player, but the Belgian insists that he has been wrongly tarred with that particular brush.

The 30-year-old insists that his job is simply to win the ball back as quickly as possible and that is why he tends to pick up so many bookings, rather than him being a thug as many have suggested.

Speaking to 'GQ style' the Belgian defended himself, insisting that perceptions of him simply are not true.

"It think it's easy for them to portray me as an aggressive player, but I'm not," Fellaini insisted.

"I try to play my game, I try my best to recover the ball quickly: that's my job.

"I try to be better all the time, to give my best for the team, for the club. I always want to improve."

After a sticky start to life at Old Trafford following his £27m move from Everton in 2013 Fellaini became an important part of Jose Mourinho's side, but he now looks set to move on, with his contract due to expire at the end fo the season.
