Manchester United legend Roy Keane has expressed scepticism over Arsenal's prospects of winning the Premier League next season, despite the possibility of adding a new striker to their squad.
Arsenal are on course to finish second in the Premier League for the third consecutive season, having once again failed to challenge for the title. Currently 15 points behind leaders Liverpool, the Gunners drew 1-1 with Manchester United on Sunday, leaving their title hopes in tatters.
When asked if he thought Arsenal could finally claim the league title next season, Keane was dismissive. "No. Why would I? What makes you think the manager can do it? They've come close in recent years, but City will be strong again next year and Liverpool will surely improve too," he told Sky Sports.
"Getting a striker in could help, but do they have the right mentality? Has the manager?" he asked, referring to the team's tendency to get agitated when things aren't going well.
The former Manchester United midfielder also expressed disappointment with the team's performance and momentum. "They've lost their momentum, and what we saw here today was nowhere near good enough. The next step is always the hardest, and they've failed to make it," Keane concluded.
