Everyone wants to stay

Zinedine Zidane returned to the Santiago Bernabeu with the idea of exacting major change, but found a squad clinging to their contracts and refusing to leave Real Madrid.

"I want to stay here" is the most repeated phrase in Real Madrid's dressing room and it doesn't matter who says it and when, because it could be any player at any time. Nobody wants to leave the Santiago Bernabéu, despite the terrible season with three different coaches.

Despite the plethora of speculation and Zidane's public and private messages, only Keylor Navas seems to have understood that the club aren't looking to continue with him and, with no intention of settling the score, has accepted his departure this summer.

However, players like Gareth Bale, whom the Frenchman has shamelessly placed on the market, are clinging to the three years that remain on his contract. The Welshman, in line with his agent Jonathan Barnett, underlines his 14.5 million euros annually having been shown the door of the Bernabeu.

After renewing Toni Kroos' deal and adding Modric and Nacho, Varane settled the rumours of his departure: "It wouldn't be great to leave now. I want to continue at Real Madrid and next season will see my best level. A speech that Reguilón also emulated, another player who no longer has the protagonism that he did under Solari.
