Espanyol sporting director Fran Garagarza confirmed on Wednesday that there are currently "no official approaches from any club" for Joan Garcia, one of the club's most sought-after players and recently the subject of numerous transfer rumours.

Speaking at a press conference at the RCDE Stadium, Garagarza emphasised that despite "a lot of noise, there is no official offer or paperwork" regarding Joan Garcia.

The sporting chief described the goalkeeper as "a top-level asset" and reassured that the club is "calm" given that the goalkeeper is under contract until 2028.

Furthermore, the Mutriku-born director made it perfectly clear that Espanyol will not be giving away their goalkeeper this summer: "Any club interested in one of our players knows there is a price. He is worth it. We will not sell for less than he's worth; we must protect the club."

The player's release clause is set at €25 million. When asked whether the club would treat a bid from Barcelona for the goalkeeper any differently, Garagarza remained firm.

"Anyone who wants him knows the terms. Just as I know the cost of bringing in a player under contract, and the clauses I must pay if I want him to come," he reiterated.
