Norway face Finland in their first match of the September international break, a friendly in which all eyes will be on one man: Erling Haaland.
The Manchester City striker, the talisman for his national side, heads into the match having scored in his last six appearances for Norway. Should he find the net against Finland, the hitman will equal his best scoring streak for the national team, having previously scored in seven straight matches between September 2021 and June 2022.
It would be no surprise to see Haaland achieve this feat, as BeSoccer Pro data shows he has bagged a staggering 42 goals in 43 appearances for his country, averaging virtually a goal a game.
With the sporting spotlight firmly fixed on him, Haaland will also be the centre of attention off the pitch, as he is set to debut a unique change to his matchday attire.
The number '9' will sport a new name on the back of his shirt, displaying 'Braut Haaland' (his middle name alongside his surname) instead of the traditional 'Haaland' we are accustomed to seeing.
"At the end of the day, it's his name. There's no problem. It's not long and it's not difficult," commented Stale Solbakken, manager of Norway. As long as Erling maintains his current form, he can wear whatever name he likes on his shirt.
