Real Madrid want to bolster their midfield as a result of Luka Modric and Toni Kroos' age. The arrivals of Camavinga and Tchouameni are key, but Real Madrid want a replacement for Luka Modric and Jude Bellingham is the favourite. However, Enzo Fernandez is their back-up option if they cannot get Bellingham.

Real Madrid are looking to strengthen one area more than any other: the centre of midfield. The fact Luka Modric and Toni Kroos are getting old means that Madrid have to act and they want to do so in the best way possible.

Tchouameni is the natural replacement for Casemiro and with Camavinga and Fede Valverde further up the pitch, Madrid want to add another player to the midfield. That is Englishman Jude Bellingham.

He has burst onto the elite stage, shown no fear and immense quality at Borussia Dortmund. This also became clear at the beginning of the World Cup in Qatar where he had a great performance with a goal and an assist. That said, the German side have put a price tag of no less than 150 million euros on the player.

His elevated price tag and the large amount of interested parties means Real Madrid have a back-up action. That is Enzo Fernandez. The Argentinian midfielder also shone for Argentina on matchday two with a great goal against Mexico to make it 2-0.

The Benfica player has been wanted by Real Madrid for some time. They already had their eyes on him when he started to shine for River Plate in Argentina. However, the Portuguese club got ahead of everyone and signed him until summer 2027.

Two factors prevented him from arriving at the Santiago Bernabeu. The first was the fact all three non-EU spots were occupied by Vinicius, Rodrygo and Militao. Secondly, it was felt he needed time to adapt after arriving in Europe.

The Portuguese outfit signed him for 10 million euros, which could be 18 if some objective bonuses are met. His price has multiplied and Real Madrid have not taken their eyes off a youngster (21) with quality, who is good on the ball and reaches the opposition box easily.

Proof of that is his three goals and three assists in the 24 matches he has played so far this season. Where he really stood out was in River in 2021 in a campaign which saw him score 10 goals and provide six assists in 28 matches. Those stats helped his team win the Argentinian league.
