Enzo Fernandez has has shone once more in a Benfica shirt. The Argentine player has got his smile back in Portugal and, what is more, the club fans have forgiven his supposed effort to leave for Chelsea.
Argentinian Enzo Fernandez is back in a Benfica shirt, and has managed to repay the fans so that they have faith in him once again ahead of Sunday's important derby against eternal rivals Sporting Lisbon.
Ezno, 21, put a Benfica shirt on again on Tuesday for the game against Varzim in the Portuguese cup. He started and scored the second goal in Benfica's 0-2 win.
His celebration left no doubt. He slapped the club badge several times with his hand and then pointed at the pitch to tell the fans that he is committed to the side.
This all comes after he disobeyed the club and travelled to Argentina to celebrate New Year, which was interpreted by the Portuguese press as an effort to force his departure to Chelsea.
But the transfer did not materialise, and the Argentine midfielder has made peace with his fans, as German Benfica manager Roger Schmidt confirmed this week: "Ezno can now focus again on just playing football. I never doubted neither Enzo's attitude nor personality. He's a great person and he now plays at Benfica. His return was very important", he claimed.
