Enzo Fernandez is on Barcelona's radar. The Catalans have been following him for some time. They have not suddenly become interested in him, far from it. Before he signed for Benfica, Barca were interested in the footballer.
According to 'Sport', former technical secretary Ramon Planes spoke about the player's inner circle. He saw him as a great future replacement for Busquets.
Back then, Enzo Fernandez had returned to River after a great loan spell at Defensa y Justicia. His buyout clause was 20 million, but the Catalan paper states that he could have been signed for 10 million plus add-ons.
But Barca let this opportunity go by. Ramon Planes ended up leaving his role at Barcelona and Enzo Fernandez moved to Benfica for 10 million plus eight more in add-ons based on targets achieved.
A year later, Barca might be regretting that decision. Enzo Fernandez is still on Barcelona's radar, but times have changed. If they want him, they will have to pay 50 million because Benfica are not going to settle for lesss. Their star signing has been terrific and the likes of Liverpool and Chelsea are also interested.
