England v USA - Preview and possible lineups

England: Wayne Rooney returns to the England squad for one final farewell appearance. Jadon Sancho is in line to start, while Kieran Tripper has been forced to withdraw from the squad. 

USA: Christian Pulisic is back in the USA setup. Antonee Robinson has pulled out with an ankle injury, but Jonathan Klinsmann has made the 26-man squad. 

Southgate: We are England and every time we play we have to perform. It's about Wayne but it will be a special night because there will be some debuts. You don't give the England captaincy to somebody unless they really have the attributes that can carry it. When you see players give everything, even when they are not starting, that is great. We will have some young players involved, but so too will America, who are in a period of transition so it will be a good test. I don't want to pin an exact time on when Wayne comes on because you don't know how the flow of the game will go. We will give him enough so that it is fitting but we also want to make sure we get the balance of looking at younger players and making sure our preparation for Sunday is another priority.

Sarachan: These last two matches provide a fantastic set of challenges and experiences, so we’re excited to bring in this group of players for another huge opportunity. We continue to build with a core group that has developed throughout the last year, while including some players who we haven’t seen in some time. Overall, this is a great way to end the Kickoff Series and what has been a very productive 2018. These are important matches and we only have so many opportunities every year to bring our players together. This is a FIFA window and we are one of many countries playing matches during this time, so you want to include players that you feel are vital to your program.
