Unai Emery has emerged as a late contender to replace Arsene Wenger at Arsenal after he left his role with French giants PSG.

The Spaniard recently parted ways with the Parisian side after failing to establish them as a European power, despite winning a domestic treble.

A host of names have been linked with the Arsenal job, including former players Thierry Henry, Patrick Vieira and Mikel Arteta, with the latter currently the favourite for the role.

However, Emery boasts significantly more experience as a manager than all of those names combined and possesses many of the tributes Arsenal will be looking for.

Emery proved during his time with Sevilla that he can keep a club competitive with a nation's big-hitters despite operating with significantly fewer financial resources, as is expected to be the case for Wenger's successor.

Meanwhile, his three consecutive Europa League titles with the Andalusians also speak to the 46-year-old's experience on a European stage.

Finally, it is conceivable that Emery could be prepared to include Arteta in his backroom staff, providing Arsenal with a natural successor for when his time at the club comes to an end.
